Sports Cliches

If you were at the Lady Breakers basketball game last night, then you would've heard or said the following cliches throughout the 2nd half and into overtime. It was unbelievable!!!

It's a real pressure cooker: (After leading 21-10 at the half, Estancia went on a 20-5 run and then the "pressure cooker" began)

It's a nail biter: (Estancia led by 7 points with 1:45 to play and then our point guard made an NBA three pointer to cut it to 4)

It's a nip and tuck game: (Estancia missed and our shooting guard made a three and we trailed by one)

It's a see-saw game: (We intentially fouled, which made our point guard foul out, and they made one of two free throws to go up by 2).

We've got a real barn-burner: (With 7 seconds to play, our freshman guard drove baseline and was fouled...she needed to make both for us to have a chance).

The fans are getting their money's worth: (She made the first, their coach called a timeout to freeze her but with ice in her veins, she drained the 2nd and the score was tied).

You can feel the momentum swinging: (They drove down the court, threw up a wild shot in the lane, and shockingly the ref blew his whistle calling a foul and sending their best player to the free throw with 2 seconds left).

That took the crowd out of the game: (That call was unbelievable, I was beside myself and with Lou Ann and the kids on hand, they saw Dro come unglued).

That really silenced the crowd: (I don't think the crowd was silenced after that call, they instead were about to kill the ref, as was I).

The crowd is really into it now: (Their girl steps to the line and the pounding of feet begins, the gym is out of control, and she misses the first).

The crowd is going wild: (The crowd goes wild, when her 2nd free throw bounces off the back rim, and we go into OVERTIME).

The fans are on their feet: (Not bearing to sit any longer, the fans rise as four minutes is put on the clock, giving the Lady Breakers hope).

That play electrified the crowd: (With the score tied and 8 seconds to play, our freshman center with tape on her thumb making it almost impossible to shoot, is fouled and sent to the line. She makes one of two, putting the Lady Breakers up one).

This place is bedlam: (Estancia rushes down the court, passes for an open three, the shot is long and the buzzer sounds).

This place is pandemonium: (No one can believe what they just saw. A gusty performance by the Lady Breakers, showing tremendous character and poise pulling off the victory and remaining in a tie for first place!!!!)

We are trying desperately to take it.........
